We will discuss the biography of Steve Jobs, who was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc. He has had a huge impact on the technology industry, entertainment, advertising, and pop culture. Thus, he has left behind an empire that changed people’s perceptions of technology.

Now let’s dive right in and discover more about him.

Steve Jobs

Parents

On 24th February 1955, Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco. Steve’s birth parents were Abdul Fattah Jandali(father) and Joanna Schieble(mother). A few months after his birth, Clara and Pol Jobs adopted him. Paul and Clara Jobs later named this adopted son Steve Jobs.

There is a small story about all this, i.e., how he was born and adopted by another couple. Let us take a look at that in brief.

Abdul Fattah was a Syrian Arab Muslim student at the University of Wisconsin working on his Ph.D. During that time, he dated Joanna Schieble. Schieble’s father, obsessed with the affair, tried to assault his daughter if she continued dating a Muslim guy, but they got emotionally attached to each other despite this. Later, they went for a summer vacation to Syria, but Schieble returned to San Francisco within a few days. Subsequently, Abdali disclosed that she had traveled to San Francisco without telling him. Moreover, she had no idea and was fully unaware of the truth that she was pregnant. Then on 24th February 1955, Schieble gave birth to Steve.

All these circumstances lead her to give her child for adoption. She sought to place her newborn child with well-educated, Catholic, and rich parents. And thus, this child was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. However, Paul and Clara did not match a few requirements, and thus Schieble refused to sign the official paperwork and took the matter to court. Later, Schieble signed the adoption papers after Paul and Clara convinced her that they would give her son higher education.

Early Life

Soon, his family relocated to Monta Loma, close to Mountain View. Paul, Steve’s father, worked as a machinist. He also adopted Patricia, Steve’s younger sister, in 1957.

As a result of his family’s technical atmosphere, Steve’s interest in engineering and electronics grew. Paul could build anything associated with machinery because he was a successful engineer. He was capable of accomplishing anything that he required.

Steve used to be bored at school, and thus he used to get himself involved in misbehavior. When a teacher named Teddy noticed that this youngster was struggling in school, he began giving him money to encourage him to memorize what he had learned. As a result, Steve began to deliver his best work by working for longer hours. However, Steve never made friends growing up and has always liked to live alone.

In 1967, Jobs’ father Paul used most of his earnings to purchase a home in Los Altos, California. Then after relocating to a new residence, Steve was sent to a prestigious school because they had a great school nearby.

Further Education

After the entire family relocated to Los Altos, California, he, alongside Bill Fernandez, enrolled at Homestead High School. This high school has a strong connection to Silicon Valley.

Steve was introduced to Wozniak by Bill. And later, Jobs and Wozniak became fast friends and went on to create the Apple company. Steve’s curiosity in class dropped with time, and he finally started to keep long hair. He also began reading pieces of literature in high school and showed only a little interest in his coursework. His passion for technology and literature kept growing.

Steve enrolled at Reed College in Portland in 1972 after passing from high school in 1971. This college was fairly costly, making it difficult for Steve’s parents to afford it. They managed to enroll him in this college but later on, Steve dropped out of college only after one semester without notifying his family. Later on, he stated that he did not want to waste his parents’ money on a meaningless education as his interest was not there. Also, soon after dropping out of college, he took a calligraphy course and learned a lot about making fonts appear attractive.

Further Struggle

In 1974, after leaving college, Steve Jobs returned to Los Altos and started seeking employment. Atari assigned him to the position of technician. He was able to save money from this employment and intended to travel to India. Thus, along with his colleague, he traveled to India to seek spiritual enlightenment. He returned to America after a seven-month stay in India. Soon after his return to the Atari business he was requested to pay $100 for Chip’s efforts. Steve Jobs didn’t know much about the circuit, so he promised his mate Wozniak that he’d give him a 50% stake if he assisted him.

The Beginning of Apple

In the late 1970s, Apple began with the initial effort of three men-Steve Jobs, Mike Markkula, and Steve Wozniak. They created and sold the Apple II computer series. Later, their effort resulted in the formation and release of the Apple Lisa in 1983, the first computer with a mouse-driven graphical user interface(GUI). Thus, that was the first financially successful range of personal computers. A year later, they created Apple Mac, and with it, the Apple legendary started to establish.

Roles And Responsibility Of Steve At Apple

Jobs left Apple in 1985 after a prolonged battle with the corporate board. A few claim he was forced to leave the company, while others claim that he went to explore other ideas. No matter whatsoever was the reason. His next step was to start a technology company, and thus he started and named it neXT, focusing on higher education and business. Jobs also made investments in a limited portion of Lucasfilm Ltd in 1986 but did not succeed and acquired another company named Pixar, which focuses on the production of computer-generated visuals for motion pictures.

Pixar produced “Toy Story” in 1995. After several modest efforts and experimentation, this project made a huge impact. And from there, Pixar became one of the world’s leading and most productive animated film companies. In 1996, a year after the premiere of “Toy Story,” Apple purchased Jobs’ NeXT firm and requested him to return to a senior-level role for Apple. From 1997 to 2000, he served as temporary CEO before becoming the regular CEO from 2000 until his withdrawal in August 2011.

iPod and iPhone

In 1996, Steve returned to Apple. He found that the company was in the same phase where Steve had left Apple earlier and was still limited to a computer-producing company. The great majority of customers possessed less expensive Windows-based PCs. Thus, Apple machines being very costly, mostly were used by limited sectors only, such as advertising, design, and filmmaking. So there was a need for some out-of-the-box ideas that could lead Apple to gain popularity again.

In November 2001, I-Pod was introduced, and from there, major revolutionary changes took place. For the first time, people started to store their thousands of favorite tracks inside a small device, allowing them to enjoy and share those tracks.

Then, Apple became the gadget that everyone wanted to own. The iPhone, released in 2007, transformed Apple into a firm that everyone aspired to be like. The iPhone redefined mobile phone technology instantly, and it was another win for Steve Jobs. Apple, his firm, became the market leader, and he became the brand leader. After that, different versions of the iPhone the iPad were released in 2010. Over 15 million iPads had been sold by March of 2011. Many people didn’t think it was necessary, but Steve Jobs believed it would have a significant influence. That is what exactly happened.

Jobs undertook many operations and medicines to overcome cancer between 2003 and his death in August 2011, but the illness was too deadly. On August 24, 2011, he resigned as Apple’s CEO and passed just a few weeks later.

Apple After Steve Jobs

To say Apple misses Steve Jobs’ impact would be the biggest understatement. The iPad, which was introduced in 2010, was Apple’s most recent big breakthrough, and it was executed under Steve Jobs’ direction. Since then, almost everything it has produced has been upgraded to a new product; none of its newer items have sparked the same kind of must-have passion in buyers as Jobs’ launches did.
